Our History
Spring Valley Chapel was started in 1965 by area people who wanted to have a local church and they met in the newly constructed Killin Chapel. Through the years, several part-time lay pastors served the church. By 1996, the church was down to eight people and ready to close their doors. Tim and Pam Buchanan (Contact Now) came as full-time pastoral leadership that year and they continue to lead the church today.
Since that time the church has continued to grow and meet in the Killin Chapel. The church became financially sustainable in three years and then started working to ensure the church would have a long-term impact on this community. This required the training of strong leadership in the church and building a permanent church home. Local church members have stepped forward and been trained in the spiritual leadership of the church and now Lay leadership and participation is a very important part of the church’s present and future. We are looking forward to moving into our new facility (here) on the corner of Greenland Road and Highway 83 by Spring 2010..
